I can’t believe I went so long without having read Walker Percy. The Second Coming is absolutely stunningly brilliant. He’s right up there with Fred Chappell as the greatest writer of the latter 20th century.
Perhaps the reason the story resonates so well with me is because the main character is a middle aged depressive. Nah. Coincidence.
