Dawn Eden is brilliant. I’m tempted to propose to her, just on the outside chance she might have a temporary lapse of judgement and say ‘yes’.
It’s so hard to get good news about Iraq. The major news outlets in this country and in other English speaking countries refuse to run any stories about positive developments. This is why blogging is so important. Here’s a blog, from Australia, that documents and links to GNFI.
Today’s lesson: Don’t Mess With Father!
Snip:
(CBS 2) CHICAGO Two men who allegedly tried to rob a West Side Catholic Church late Wednesday afternoon are in police custody after a priest chased them down.
The collection box at St. Agnes Church on the Southwest side had been robbed before so the priest and church volunteers were on alert. Through video security cameras, they saw a man brazenly lay out tools and try to pry open the box where about $300 was kept.
Father Matt Foley ran from the rectory to the church and grabbed the man’s tools. They fought in the church and the altercation spilled into the street and then the alley. While parishioners called police Father Foley tried to keep the robber from stabbing him.
This is an absolutely fascinating story, with astonishing pictures, about research into the incredible range of motion and activity found in fetuses as young as 8 weeks.
Tip o’ the metaphorical hat to Feddie at Southern Appeal for the link.
Every single blog on the internet has posted this link, but, if by some chance you haven’t read the Christopher Hitchens review of Farenheit 911, I beg you, read it now.
He [John Kerry] took a week off as a mark of respect for the late President Reagan and his numbers inched up. If he had taken another week off as a mark of respect for the late Ray Charles, he could have opened up a clear lead.

If you’ve never read PJ O’Rourke, you’ve been missing out. The only book on politics you ever need read is his excellent Parliament of Whores.
Go read this article. He discusses why political argument (in the classic, Monty Python sense of the word) is dead. Here’s a taste:
I am a little to the right of … Why is the Attila comparison used? Fifth-century Hunnish depredations on the Roman Empire were the work of an overpowerful executive pursuing a policy of economic redistribution in an atmosphere of permissive social mores. I am a little to the right of Rush Limbaugh.
Using The Memory Of Ronald Reagan To Kill Babies
Nice.
One of the few issues on which the President is spot on correct. Even Orrin Hatch doesn’t get it.
Embryo=human being.
Destroy embryo=kill human being.
If he doesn’t cave in on this matter, I may even vote for him in November.
I know that many of you are constantly thinking to yourselves “Hmm, Dave’s birthday will be here before I know it; I wonder what I should get for him?”
Well, friends, search no further.
Communists Detain 13 At Tiananmen Square.
Do you remember in 1999 every news organization had their “Man of the Century” articles and features? This guy should have been at the top of every single list:

No one knows what became of him, but he’s the bravest man of our generation.
The night China’s Communist Party died – Opinion – www.theage.com.au
As I’ve said before, I’m not a huge fan of modern Western Culture, but at least it’s a culture. One that may eventually free 1.3 billion Chinese. Even what we have become is preferable to living under Communism. We are decadent because we choose to be, not because we are not free. In China, the decadence has been top-down. Opression, murder, infanticide, supression of free speech and free religion. You name it.
For example, the abortion culture is even more entrenched in China than it is here. Solely because it has been government policy for such a long time. How will that pan out, when the Chinese people are freed? Since infanticide has been forced on the them unwillingly, my suspicion is that they will quickly abandon it, and will indeed lead the West into valuing all human all life again.
I truly hope that freedom for China will mean a renaissance for both Eastern and Western Culture.
Yahoo! News – Girls Pushing for Modest Fashion Options
This is an answer to the prayers of many parents. Some of my 7th grade students were complaining about getting busted for dress code vioations at school this year. I suggested the possiblity that they actually really did need to dress more modestly. They replied, “You can’t find anything modest in the stores!”
Now I realize if they REALLY wanted to they could dress more modestly, but they have a point, to be sure.
It’s a crime that young girls are being encouraged to dress they way they dress today. It’s scandalous.
This article is encouraging news. I love the kid who wrote the letter to Nordstroms. She’s great.
One of the best nonfiction books of the 90’s was “A Return To Modesty” by a brilliant young college student named Wendy Shalit. I highly recommend it.
Yahoo! News – Judge: Bush Abortion Ban Unconstitutional
Hey, guess what, folks, I’ve read the Constitution. Nowhere does it say that anyone has a right to chop a baby into pieces and suck it out of the womb. I’m pretty sure I would have noticed that, had it been mentioned in the document. Or even implied in the document. Or even appeared in the Cliff Notes to the document.
