Reuters is reporting that sources say Marco Materazzi called Zinedine Zidane a “dirty terrorist” just before Zidane head-butted him during extra-time in Sunday’s World Cup Final in Berlin.
I suspect the report is accurate. Materazzi is a thug of the worst kind on the field. Dirty and dishonest. This would be in character.

it doesn’t matter what he “called” him… words are words. It is still zidane’s fault for translating that into action. we teach our children to behave better than that!

I agree with you that Zidane’s actions cannot be excused. But Materazzi should be called out for his lack of civility, sportsmanship, and basic human decency. He is a disgrace and should be censured for such acts.
