Go read Dan Loney’s excellent two-part series about what a joke it is to have Herbalife as an MLS shirt sponsor. Not only is it a direct competitor to the main business of Chivas USA’s owner, it’s also a multi-level marketing scam.
Not only that, it’s not even the first one in the league. Apparently RSL’s sponsor, XanGo, is the same type of deal.
This can only mean one thing:

Apparently great minds do think alike. Last month when I was chatting about potential sponsors I said, “The other name apparently in the running is Herbalife. No, seriously. (Is credibility even an issue here? Or is it all money? I mean, honestly. Herbalife? Why don’t we just invite the world to a giant Amway party and call it good?)”
Herbalife. Sigh.

AMWAY is the most credible, attainable and rewarding business with little or no up front capital needed to get started. And, for sure, no personality type, educational requirements or resume needed to “make it”. All you need is a heart. And for the one’s who decided to not make it work for them were lacking in that area; entrepreneurship is a spirit not a skill. It doesn’t take much to criticize. Anyone can do that.
